Food grown under LEDs tastes better

Realising that old-fashioned greenhouse lights are expensive to run, more and more growers are switching to energy-efficient LED lights. Research shows that in addition to cutting costs by switching to LED lights, your crops will likely taste better and have higher nutritional content when grown under LED lights. A number of researchers have conducted in-depth studies that demonstrate the benefits of LED lights. A study by Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture in Holland found that certain varieties of tomatoes that receive extra light from LEDs contained up to twice as much vitamin C as the tomatoes not exposed to the LEDs. Also, in a study from the University of Florida researchers found that post-harvest food stored under LED lights improves in appearance and flavour.
