The big pick-up

Vans have been busy criss-crossing the country this week to collect all the school grown fruits and vegetables for the Miracle-Growers Academy Display in the Great Pavilion, Chelsea Flower Show from the 19th to 23rd of May 2015. Bright sunlight through April has helped and once again our schools have come up with top quality produce. The new, very early Potato Jazzy and compact growing Raspberry Ruby Beauty promises to attract favourable comment. All schools need to press on with sowing such crops as sweet corn, French and Runner Beans, courgettes, pumpkins and squashes. Do not forget to include Sunflowers in this The Year of the Sunflower, try several at different heights tallest at the back shortest (down to 30 cm) at the front. There are prizes to be won, for the tallest, most flowers on a single stem, largest flower and best small one grown by a child. Thompson and Morgan are offering a £1,000 prize for the tallest.
