These are camellia fruits which will eventually split open like horse chestnut fruits to reveal the seeds. If you don't want to try growing your own camellia plants from seeds just cut them off and put them in the compost bin. Or wait until the fruits split and sow the seeds into pots of ericaceous compost and place outside to germinate.
