This is likely to be powdery mildew, which Acanthus may get when we have a prolonged dry period. You can spray with Fungus Fighter Plus (SBM) or Rose Rescue (Westland) but this mildew usually indicates plants are too dry, so keep it well watered and mulch with garden compost.
