The RHS would love to welcome you to this year’s flower show at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Garden Wisley, in Surrey, which will be opened by comedian, musician and strictly star Bill Bailey on Tuesday 7 September. The flower festival (7-12 September 2021) is set for a spectacular comeback after last year’s show was cancelled due to the pandemic, with thousands of plants for sale, magnificent floral displays to enjoy and an engaging programme of talks and demonstrations in the recently-opened RHS Hilltop – The Home of Gardening Science.
Bill’s passion for horticulture means he is a regular visitor to the RHS Chelsea and Hampton Court Palace Flower Shows, and he has even had a rare plant named after him in recognition of his work in the field of animal and plant conservation (Nepenthes x Bill Bailey).
The 28th edition of the show, set within the idyllic surroundings of the garden, will host more than 50 specialist nurseries showcasing their top quality plants, many of whom will also be exhibiting at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show later this month. In addition, 20 trade stands will be exhibiting everything from professional tools and garden furniture to outdoor sculpture and stylish home accessories.
Bill Bailey says, “It’s great to be a part of Wisley’s legendary flower show, and I look forward to enjoying the wonderful displays and expertise on offer in this beautiful setting.”
David Christie, Head of Site at RHS Garden Wisley, says: “We are absolutely delighted that Bill Bailey will be opening the Wisley Flower Show, which is making a spectacular comeback following a year like no other. With more people than ever falling in love with gardening, the recent opening of RHS Hilltop, and the garden looking magnificent with plenty of late summer colour, there couldn’t be a better time to show Bill all that Wisley has to offer.”
Admission to the RHS Garden Wisley Flower Show is free to RHS Members, normal garden admission applies to non-members. Advance booking is essential for all visitors. For further information, including how to book tickets and travel advice, visit: www.rhs.org.uk/wisleyflowershow
