Eram Garden

Eram Garden, also known as Bagh-e Eram, is a historic Persian garden located in Shiraz, Iran. It is renowned for its exceptional beauty, intricate design, and rich cultural significance. The garden is situated in the northern part of Shiraz, at the foothills of the Zagros mountain range.

Location: Shiraz, Iran

History

Eram Garden traces its origins back to the 13th century during the Seljuk dynasty. However, much of its current layout and features were developed during the Qajar dynasty in the 19th century. The garden has undergone various renovations and enhancements throughout its history.

Location

Situated in the northern part of Shiraz, at the foothills of the Zagros mountain range, Eram Garden covers an area of about 110,000 square meters. Its location provides stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

Design and Features

Eram Garden is renowned for its lush greenery, colourful flowers, and towering cypress trees. The garden follows the traditional Persian garden design principles, emphasising symmetry, water features, and architectural elements. It features winding pathways, fountains, and meticulously landscaped areas.

Qavam House

At the heart of Eram Garden stands the Qavam House, an elegant mansion that reflects a blend of Persian, Qajar, and European architectural styles. The mansion is adorned with intricate tile-work, stained glass windows, and ornate ceilings. It has served various purposes over the years, including as a royal residence and a cultural centre.

Cultural Significance

Eram Garden is recognised for its cultural significance and has been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with eight other Persian gardens under the collective title of the "Persian Garden." It symbolises Iran's rich cultural heritage and architectural achievements.
