Starbucks Partners with Hubbub to Unlock Green Spaces Across UK

In an exclusive collaboration with Starbucks, environmental champion Hubbub is set to empower approximately 50 groups with up to £6,000 in funding. The aim is to fuel the development of green space initiatives, providing essential access to nature in the heart of communities.

Embracing the Green Oasis

Amidst the concrete jungle, a recent nationwide survey conducted by Hubbub reveals a striking truth – 78% of individuals experience a significant improvement in well-being by spending time in nature. Despite this revelation, a staggering 36% of UK residents admit to dedicating less than an hour per week to nature. To bridge this gap, the Nature Hubs Fund emerges as a beacon of change.

The Healing Power of Nature

Research underscores the manifold benefits of nature on physical and mental health. Green spaces act as a shield, protecting us from the impacts of a changing climate. The more intertwined we become with nature, the more inclined we are to undertake actions that preserve its beauty for generations to come.

Charting a Green Future

With a burgeoning population, the need for 4,000 new green spaces by 2033 is predicted merely to sustain our existing levels of access to nature. The Nature Hubs Fund, backed by Starbucks and Hubbub, is a pivotal step towards transforming this vision into reality.

Unlocking the Nature Hubs Fund

Available to all UK-based, legally registered organisations, the Nature Hubs Fund presents an opportunity for innovation and community engagement. The funding application window opened on November 9th and closes on January 11th, 2024, at 15:00. Successful applicants will receive notification by the end of February, marking the commencement of a transformative journey for both communities and green spaces.

Themes of Transformation

Projects eligible for the Nature Hubs Fund should align with one or all of the following themes:

  1. Increasing Access: Initiatives aimed at bringing green spaces to areas with limited access, such as creating or enhancing community gardens, green roofs, or increasing biodiversity in urban areas. Encouraging specific demographics to visit existing green spaces is also a key focus.
  2. Bringing People Together: Activities fostering community connection around shared green spaces, from communal growing and plant sharing to casual coffee gatherings and youth-focused events.
  3. Upskilling the Community: Workshops and events in green spaces designed to teach new skills and promote health and well-being. This includes how-to guides on enhancing nature connection and training in nature-based activities.
  4. Building Climate Resilience: Projects enhancing the resilience of existing spaces to climate challenges, coupled with community engagement on climate issues. Think changes to buildings and urban spaces that increase resilience to heatwaves, droughts, coastal flooding, or sea-level rise, all while fostering community connection in green spaces.
Igniting Change, One Green Space at a Time
