Mountfield Typhoon 30Li Cordless Hover Lawnmower Review

Rating: 3.2 out of 5 (from 43 reviews)

The Mountfield Typhoon 30Li Cordless Hover Lawnmower is the first battery-powered cordless hover mower. Designed to provide efficient lawn maintenance, this mower boasts a 30cm cutting width and weighs under 9kg, making it lightweight and easy to handle.

The Typhoon 30Li is designed with user convenience in mind. The lightweight polypropylene chassis enhances manoeuvrability, allowing users to effortlessly navigate their lawns and tackle uneven terrain. The compact size and foldable handles make the mower easy to store, catering to those with limited storage space.

The Typhoon 30Li Kit comes with 2 x 20V 4Ah Lithium-ion batteries and a charger included, offering up to 20 minutes of run time on a single charge. This allows users to efficiently mow an area of up to 100m² before needing to recharge. The smart intelligent batteries optimise power usage and provide longer battery life, enhancing the overall performance and longevity of the mower. Moreover, the batteries are interchangeable with the entire Freedom100 range, providing added flexibility for users who own other Mountfield cordless tools.

The Mountfield Typhoon 30Li also features a unique blade design specifically engineered for maximum cutting efficiency. This ensures a clean and precise cut, promoting a healthy and visually appealing lawn. The mower's easy storage capability further adds to its convenience, allowing users to neatly store the mower when not in use, saving valuable space.

To Typhoon 30Li also comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty.

What users think:

The Mountfield Typhoon 30Li Cordless Hover Lawnmower has received positive feedback from users for its lightweight design, ease of manoeuvrability, and suitability for small gardens. However, there have been some concerns raised regarding the short battery life, inability to adjust the cut height, and the size of the blade.

Owners of the Mountfield Typhoon 30Li appreciate its lightweight construction, as it allows for easy handling and manoeuvring. The mower's lightness enables users to effortlessly navigate their lawns, making it an ideal choice for individuals who may have limited strength or mobility.

The ease of manoeuvrability is another aspect that users liked about the Typhoon 30Li. Its hover feature, which allows the cutting deck to float on air, contributes to smoother movement across the lawn. This feature facilitates seamless navigation around obstacles and tight corners, ensuring efficient mowing and a well-maintained garden.

The Typhoon 30Li is particularly well-received by users with small gardens. Its compact size and cutting width of 30cm make it suitable for areas with limited space. Owners appreciate that the mower can easily navigate through narrow passages and tackle tight areas, ensuring thorough and precise cutting even in confined spaces.

However, some users have expressed dissatisfaction with the battery life of the Typhoon 30Li. Several owners have reported that the battery does not last as long as they had anticipated, requiring frequent recharges during extended mowing sessions. This limitation may be a concern for those who prefer uninterrupted mowing or have larger lawns to maintain.

Another point of concern raised by users is the inability to adjust the cut height of the mower. Some owners have expressed a desire for more flexibility in selecting their desired grass length. The lack of adjustable cutting height limits the mower's versatility and may not cater to the preferences of all users.

Additionally, a few users have commented on the size of the blade. They feel that the blade could be larger to cover a greater cutting width, which would result in more efficient and time-saving mowing sessions.

Direct quotes from owners:

The angle of the handle is limited. The power generated is only just enough to raise the machine. Both of these issues together cause the front end to dig in. As well as that, the side to side movement is very difficult. Not suitable for anything except a short and really flat lawn.

This is perfect for my little lawn. Does the job I need it to and itÂ’s very easy to use and manoeuvre around. The battery lasts long enough for my lawn so no complaints from me on that either. Frankly IÂ’m relieved after the old large electric mower IÂ’ve previously had to use and which just butchered the lawn and my back!

This machine has replaced an electric and a petrol Flymo and as such it does what I wanted it to do. The up sides are it is very light and easy to put together and suites my requirements on a very steep bank over some rough(ish) ground - the old electric one would not get there safely and the petrol one gave you a coronary simply getting it there. The single biggest issue is the "cut height" as some other reviewers have mentioned and there is no way of lowering it that I can see. I would be nice if it cut to about 1/2 and inch not an inch. Battery life id ok for me but might not be so good for other folk. All in all quite a nice design, light and easy to manoeuvre, battery life poor and cut height poor - I suppose it depends what you want from a hover mower, for me it does the job for others who are lawn proud probably not.
