How can I protect my young Echium plant growing in the border?
These plants hate cold, wet and windy conditions. The greatest risk is likely to be cold winds damaging the leaves and the stem. You could use canes to form a wigwam structure over the plant and then cover the structure with horticultural fleece to keep out the wind and rain. Make sure the plants leaves are not touching the fleece.
